About Ambrose

Meet Ambrose!

Ambrose is a 4-year-old, 60-pound German Shepherd mix with a gentle soul, a love for adventure, and so much affection waiting to be shared! This handsome boy may be a little shy when meeting new people, but give him some time to build trust, and you'll discover a wonderful companion who's absolutely worth getting to know.

Ambrose is naturally timid, especially around men, and appreciates people who are willing to let him warm up at his own pace. But don't let his shy nature fool you—this boy has an adventurous side! He absolutely LOVES going for walks and hikes and would make a fantastic companion for someone who enjoys getting outside and exploring.

One thing Ambrose has no hesitation about? Other dogs! He absolutely loves his canine friends and enjoys their company. A home with another friendly dog could be a wonderful fit for him, especially while he's building confidence in a new environment.

Why you'll love Ambrose:

Sweet, gentle, and sensitive

Loves other dogs

Enjoys walks and hiking adventures

Fantastic on leash

Potty trained

Non-destructive when left out of his crate

Enjoys spending time outdoors

Would love a patient, understanding family

Has so much potential to blossom with love and consistency

Ambrose is already potty trained and walks beautifully on leash! He does experience some anxiety when crated, which his foster is actively working on. Thankfully, he's non-destructive when left out of his crate, so he may do best in a home where crating isn't necessary.

While Ambrose hasn't been around cats or children yet, we believe he could do well with older, respectful kids who understand the importance of giving a shy dog time and space to feel comfortable. We can also arrange a cat test if needed to help determine whether he'd be a good match for a home with feline friends.

Ambrose would thrive with a patient, loving adopter who understands that trust takes time and is happy to let him settle in at his own pace. He'd especially enjoy a home where he can get out for regular walks, explore new trails, and spend time with canine companions.

Not every dog is the type to run up and greet everyone immediately, and that's perfectly okay! Sometimes the most special relationships are the ones built slowly, with patience, kindness, and trust.

If you're looking for a gentle, adventure-loving companion and are willing to give him the time he needs to feel safe, Ambrose might just be your perfect match!
